GM and Ford are using prepaid debit cards as incentives to customers, helping them offset gas pricing. With auto sales falling and gas prices rising, GM and Ford are helping new customers pay for gas with prepaid debit cards.

Gulf Oil working on Prepaid Gas Card |

Gulf Oil chief executive, Joe Petrowski, is working on a prepaid gas card. This card would allow customers to buy a fixed quantity of gas at a set price. "We want to give customers choice and lock in volume for Gulf stations," said Petrowski.

Payment Data Systems has tied up with the Green Dot load network. Cards issued by Payment Data Systems can be loaded at the Green Dot network. The Green Dot network includes CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Rite Aid, RadioShack, Food Lion, Hess, Kum & Go, Pantry, Cumberland Farms and other retail locations.
